Supported by Israel: UN suspends Russia from Human Rights Council

The UN General Assembly passed a vote in favor of the United States’ decision to suspend Russia from the organization’s Human Rights Council. 93 countries voted in favor of the decision, including Israel, while 24 opposed. Another 58 countries chose to abstain.

As stated, the State of Israel supported the decision to suspend Russia from its membership in the Human Rights Council. The reasons for the decision are “the war in Ukraine, the unjustified invasion of it and the killing of innocent civilians,” according to a statement from the Foreign Ministry.

At the same time, Foreign Minister Yair Lapid clarified that “the vote today does not change our position on the UN General Assembly, which is an extremist, morally flawed, biased and essentially anti-Israel body that has been exploited since its inception by the main countries violating human rights. In the world as a political tool, among other things to attack Israel. ”

As you may recall, the UN General Assembly, which has 193 member states, announced yesterday that it had accepted the United States’ request to hold a vote on the proposal to suspend Russia from the organization’s Human Rights Council.
