This activity is carried out continuously every year, where this year NUVO Family is present in Medan as the second city visited. NUVO Family has also visited five elementary schools in Medan to provide new experiences in playing for children and educate parents about the benefits of playing outside which can help improve children’s intelligence in the digital era.
Tengku Nuranasmita M.Psi., C.Ht as a Psychologist explains that changes in the way of life and learning in the digital era bring new challenges and opportunities for children and parents.
“Therefore, it is very important to balance the use of technology with children’s social and emotional development by inviting them to play outside,” he said.
Tengku Nuranasmita added, some examples of outdoor play activities that children can do with their parents, including taking a leisurely walk, cycling, playing in the park, and gardening. These outdoor play activities can hone children’s motor, sensory, strategy, creativity, and social skills as they grow. Parents’ concerns when children play outside can be minimized through the following two steps, namely strengthening the child’s immune system by providing nutritious food intake and ensuring that children maintain their cleanliness and health by diligently bathing and washing their hands with antibacterial soap after playing outside.
