The Supreme Court stated that, after hearing the testimony of the Third Chamber’s rapporteurs, it decided to add new charges.

The Supreme Court has expanded the number of charges facing Justice Angela Vivanco in her removal case, and she has 25 days to submit her defense.

The Supreme Court stated that, after hearing the testimonies of the Third Chamber’s rapporteurs, it decided to add new charges, highlighting possible irregularities committed in the processing of eight cases, “due to noncompliance with the existing rules and criteria in this regard.”

In addition, it was decided to provide Angela Vivanco’s defense with a copy of the Ethics Commission’s report “with the minutes that account for the presentations of the individualized rapporteurs, and in a sealed envelope the information sent by the National Prosecutor.”

Minister Gloria Ana Chevesich explained that “a copy of the report issued by the Ethics Commission has been arranged and has already been delivered to Minister Vivanco, fulfilling the task given at the time by the Supreme Court, with the purpose of giving content to points one and two indicated in the resolution that ordered the opening of the Removal Notebook.”

“The code of the courts, the code of civil procedure, and in addition to precise instructions given by the president of that chamber, indicate that in everything seniority must be respected. The table must be entered in strict order of seniority, accounts must be given in strict order of seniority and decisions must be made so that all parties who are litigants become aware of the resolutions as the court becomes aware of them. That is established in the law. And that would have been altered,” added Chevesich.
