A hearing was held in the Supreme Court on the petition of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind on the bulldozer action going on in many states of the country. The bench of Justice BR Gavai and Justice KV Vishwanathan said that we are a secular country, we will issue guidelines for all citizens. Illegal construction can be done by anyone, Hindu or Muslim. Our instructions will be for everyone, irrespective of religion or community. There will be exemption only to remove encroachment in public places.

Interim order of September 17 will continue – Supreme Court

Justice Gavai said that if there is any religious structure in the middle of the road, be it a temple or a dargah or a gurudwara, it cannot become a hindrance for everyone. Public safety is paramount. If there is any religious structure in the middle of the road, bulldozer action may take place. However, time will have to be given for demolition. Not only this, the court has reserved its decision on the bulldozer action. The interim order of September 17 will continue.
