Supreme President Hayut canceled an event she had initiated – this is the reason

by time news

The President of the Supreme Court Esther Hayut left an event on Friday last week in the presence of many other judges, whom she had summoned – this was reported by Hachot 13. Hayut left the event after political statements were made.

All the judges were invited to the event by President Hayut, during which they watched the play “Playing in the Backyard” written by the playwright Edna Mazia. Mazia came up after the play to speak to the judges where she expressed herself politically.

Mazia said: “My daughter asked me who will appoint judges? Dodi Amsalem will appoint judges? Haim Gori said ‘there have always been elites and there will always be elites’. The elites are the ones who move the world forward, otherwise we would be monkeys on the tree.” Following these words, President Hayut stood up and said that she “is not ready to sit here when we talk about politics” – and left the hall.

Following Hayut’s move, Mazia became silent and stopped talking about the issue. It is believed that Hayut was trying to show that she was not ready to take a political position, even though she had already expressed herself politically a few weeks ago when she strongly attacked the legal reform led by Minister Yariv Levin.
