A man was kidnapped by four men in a shop on 10 de Agosto and Quito streets in downtown Guayaquil. The kidnappers grabbed, dragged and beat the victim to get him into a vehicle.

A new case of kidnapping was registered in Guayaquil. On the morning of this Saturday, July 6, 2024, around 7:30 a.m., four armed individuals kidnapped a merchant on the busy 10 de Agosto and Quito avenues, in the heart of the city. The incident was captured by a security camera. In the images, you can see how two of the kidnappers get out of a white car, quickly go to a commercial premises to grab and drag the merchant.

While they drag him to the vehicle, the other two men remain pointing their weapons at the employees of the establishment, thus preventing any attempt to intervene in the kidnapping.

The one-minute video, which went viral on social media, also shows how the kidnappers push and hit the victim to force his way into the car, which was waiting on the road in front of the commercial premises.

Authorities confirmed the incident and the National Police indicated that police units are acting in flagrante delicto in the corresponding proceedings. So far this year, more than 350 cases of extortionate kidnapping have been recorded nationwide.
