Survey of Liquor Stores with Low Sales

CHENNAI: ‘Tasmac’ is surveying the number of liquor shops where liquor sales are very low.

Tamil Nadu government’s TASMAC sells beer and liquor through 5,310 retail outlets.

In every district, every shop in the main areas of the city sells liquor worth Rs 3 lakh to 4 lakh on an average every day.

At the same time, the sales in the shops in remote areas in the villages are very low. Expenses including rent for these shops are high.

Subsequently, TASMAC district managers are engaged in surveying the details of shops where liquor sales are very low.

In this regard, a Tasmac District Manager said, ‘Modern liquor shops are functioning in commercial premises. Among them the rent of a shop is more than 40 thousand rupees; But sales are low.

He said, ‘Therefore, the shops with low sales are being surveyed in each district.’
