The filmmakers have released a glimpse video of ‘Vaadivaasal’, in which Suriya will play the lead role for the first time in Vetrimaran’s direction. The video was released on the occasion of Suriya’s birthday. Surya’s character can be seen in the video taming a galloping jallikattu bull. The film is based on CS Chellappa’s novel of the same name, set in Jallikattu.
The novel ‘Vadivasal’ is the story of ‘Pichi’ who tries to tie the bull ‘Kari’, who is the cause of his father’s death, to the Jallikattu. The novel, which was serialized in the literary magazine ‘Ehuth’ published by CS Chellappa, was later turned into a book. It is a popular novel that has already published 26 editions. Vadivasal is a place in Madurai district of great importance for Jallikattu.
Kalaipuli S Thanu is producing the film under the banner of V Creations. The first look of the film was released on Suriya’s last birthday. The shooting of the film, which started in September last year, was put on hold due to the second wave of covid. GV Prakash Kumar is the music director.
Meanwhile, Suriya was awarded the best actor award at the National Film Awards announced yesterday. The actor received the award for the biopic Soorarai Potter. Sudhakonkara was the director. Aparna Balamurali also won the best actress award for her performance in the film.
Surya said that he is dedicating the award to his children Diya, Dev and his family. Surya’s note begins with a heartfelt thank you for the love and wishes.
