Suryakumar Yadav’s debut as India’s T20 captain has been brilliant. He gave the team a big win in the first match. Batting first against Sri Lanka, he scored 213 runs and won by 43 runs.

Surya scored 58 runs for the team in just 26 balls with 8 fours and 2 sixes. He also won the man of the match award.

Through this Surya also touched a record of Virat Kohli. Kohli played 125 matches in international T20 and became man of the match 16 times. Which is the highest in the history of international T20 cricket.

But Suryakumar reached this record by playing half of his matches. Suryakumar became man of the match for the 16th time after playing 69 matches against Sri Lanka on Saturday. Having played less matches, he has been man of the match 16 times and is above Kohli in this list.

After Kohli and Suryakumar, Zimbabwe’s Sikander Raja is in the third place after playing 91 matches and becoming the man of the match 15 times. Afghanistan’s Mohammad Nabi has played 129 matches and has been man of the match 14 times. And India’s Rohit Sharma has been man of the match 14 times in the fifth place. He played 159 T20 matches.

Suryakumar, however, has an opportunity to overtake Kohli. India will play two more matches against Sri Lanka on Sunday and Tuesday night. If he gets the best of the match award in any of these two matches, Surya will leave everyone behind and take the top position.
