Surya, who is emerging as a leading actor in Tamil cinema, has helped the police service movement.

Actor Surya donated a modern car to the ‘Police Hands’ department run by the Chennai Metropolitan Police to cater to the needs of the homeless and street people.

Chennai Metropolitan Police has started a movement called ‘Police Hands’. On behalf of this movement, many charities are working together to identify and rescue the poor, destitute, the mentally ill and the sick living along the roadside. They are also involved in the service-minded work of locating, cremating and burying dead bodies in old age homes, orphanages and roadside shelters.

Surya’s own film company 2D Entertainment has donated a vehicle worth Rs 6 lakh for their needs. This vehicle will be used to provide food for them. Chennai Municipal Commissioner Kagan Deep Singh, Chennai Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sankar Jiwal, Dr Saranya Rajasekar and many others were present at the event where the vehicle was flagged off.
