The national singer Susana Baca, 79, was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the Edgardo Rebagliati Martins hospital after going through a complicated state of health.
Although it has not yet been revealed what illness the three-time Latin Grammy-winning artist has, her husband, sociologist Ricardo Pereira, issued a statement in which he assured that doctors are working for her recovery.
“Susanita is very delicate, she is in the ICU […] where the medical team makes the best efforts for your recovery. “Susana has time ailments and new and unsuspected illnesses,” the academic wrote.
However, despite the difficult health situation that the singer faces, her life partner expressed optimism for Baca’s recovery.
“We have faith and hope that we will get through this difficult moment and continue to be what we have always been: a living feeling like the one you let us feel and how this emotion has been in our history,” he added.
Finally, Pereira requested respect for Baca’s health and promised to report on any progress he may have regarding his current condition.

On the Day of Love, the Afro-Peruvian singer and cultural promoter published an emotional message where she confirmed having been hospitalized at the Edgardo Rebagliati Martins hospital for almost 40 days. Likewise, she asked her followers to be remembered for the music she offered.
“Life has been hard for me during this time, but this, even so, does not take away the excitement of this day to celebrate with everyone, to hug them, to make love and friendship, that secret strength that we humans have so as not to feel so almost nothing, it is close,” he indicated.

This is not the first time that Baca was admitted to a medical center; in March 2023, the former Minister of Culture also suffered a health problem, which she was able to overcome. “Thank you all for your love, your affection and her wonderful energy. Today we have won,” she commented in the past.
