About a week ago, five people were injured in a shooting incident at a cafe in Rahat. The injured, including one seriously and four moderately, were evacuated to Soroka Hospital by medical personnel. The background to the serious incident is a cultural conflict between families, after the Elaubra family who set up the cafe tried to bring Western culture into it.

In this context, the cafe employed waitresses who serve at the tables, but this angered the suspects who claimed that it was not religiously appropriate to have waitresses in the city. This is the first time that the police are handling an incident of this kind as part of a struggle between culture and religion.
