Gunasundari hails from New Washermenpet, Chennai. She lost her husband and had a seven-year-old son named Mahesh. Gunasundari is said to have married Raja from Andhra Pradesh for the second time in 2014. It is said that Raju, who was a suspect in Gunasundari, used to quarrel with him frequently. Meanwhile, Gunasundari and her son were hacked to death in a dispute over suspicion and went into hiding. The Puthuvannarapettai police had registered a case in this regard and were searching for Raju. Raju, who was convicted of murder eight years later, was rounded up by the police after it was reported that Raju used to visit a chicken baguette shop in Satyavedu, Andhra Pradesh.
