Pouridis Village, [Location] – Tragedy struck the village of Pouridis on Thursday evening as 25-year-old Ahmed Marai was shot to death inside a local mini market. Two others were injured in the incident, with their condition reported as moderate. The police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident, collecting vital evidence and findings at the crime scene.

According to evidence obtained by N12, the shooting occurred near the mini market where Marai was staying. Two young men, aged 24 and 28, were injured and immediately rushed to nearby hospitals for medical treatment.

The recent murder in Pouridis has intensified concerns over the rising violence in Arab society. The Avraham Initiatives association reported that 163 Arabs have lost their lives this year alone due to violence and crime-related circumstances. Shockingly, 148 of the victims were killed by gun violence, with 80 of them being under the age of 30. Comparatively, during the same period last year, there were 72 reported victims within Arab society.

Addressing the mounting violence, a demonstration against violence in Arab society, titled the “March of the Dead in Haifa,” was organized just hours prior to the tragic incident. The demonstration, attended by thousands of people, demanded an end to the violence plaguing Arab society. This marked the second protest held in the past month, with participants marching with coffins symbolizing the lives lost to violence. Quotes written by the deceased adorned the coffins, highlighting their untimely deaths.

Expressing her frustration, Haifa Mayor, Einat Kalish Rotem, accused the Israeli government of neglecting the needs of Arab society, stating, “It is a detached government that does not care about Arab society.”

The murder in Pouridis only serves to emphasize the urgency for the Israeli government to take decisive action to protect its citizens, particularly in Arab communities. The loss of innocent lives and the increasing sense of fear and insecurity within these communities demand immediate attention and meaningful solutions.

As the investigation into Ahmed Marai’s murder continues, the hope remains that justice will be served, and steps will be taken to prevent such senseless acts of violence from terrorizing Arab society any further.
