BOLZANO. The SVP management has set up a working group on the issue of the presence of non-German pupils in German-language schools. A decision that comes after the Goethe school case and the halt decided by the German school board to separate classes for non-Germans.

“Everything possible must be done to ensure the right to education in the mother tongue under Article 19 of the Statute of Autonomy and the right to quality education is a principle we all agree on,” says the party president. Dieter Steger who will chair the working group in close collaboration with the councilor Philipp Achammer.

“Some kindergartens and schools – he continues – are in serious difficulty. It is therefore important to examine the issue thoroughly and try to find solutions. I am quite confident that we will be able to do so within the working group, which will also include experts”. “The German school is the fulcrum of autonomy and the protection of minorities. Ideologizing it and doing it on the backs of students, teachers and school staff causes enormous damage”, he concludes.
