(24 News) The government of Sweden has announced to provide financial assistance of up to 34 thousand dollars (about 9.5 million Pakistanis) to encourage immigrants to return to their homeland.

Sweden has announced a change in its immigration policy and has decided to provide financial aid of up to 350,000 Swedish kroner to encourage migrants to return home. This move comes in view of the increasing number of immigrants in Sweden, due to which the country is facing a number of problems.

Under the new plan, financial assistance will be provided to migrants who voluntarily return home from 2026. The scheme will provide up to 10,000 kroner to immigrants over the age of 18, up to 5,000 kroner to children, and a maximum of 40,000 kroner per family.

“We are in a phase of fundamental change in our immigration policy and tightening of immigration rules,” said Sweden’s Migration Minister Johan Forsel.

Migrant groups declined to immediately comment on the new policy, but other European countries also offer financial incentives for migrants to return home. For example, Denmark provides more than $15,000 per person, Norway $1,400, France $2,800, and Germany $2,000.
