A shooting left at least one dead and three injured in southern Stockholm, reports Saturday evening several Swedish media. The shooting took place in Farsta, a district in the southern suburbs of the capital. Two men were arrested shortly after the incident, according to Towe Häggspokesman for the Stockholm police.

According to the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet, the victims are two young men aged 15, a 45-year-old man and a 65-year-old woman. The deceased is one of two teenagers, reports The Express. The other three people hit by the gunshots are currently hospitalized.

Second shooting in 24 hours

The shooting took place late Saturday afternoon, around 6 p.m. The shootings took place near a metro station which, according to local media, is very busy. A large-scale police operation is taking place in this southern district of the Swedish capital.

Shortly after the shooting, two men were arrested on a highway not far from town after a chase with police. Local media recall that another shooting broke out less than 24 hours ago, also in Stockholm. She injured three people and one man was arrested.

On Friday, three people were shot and injured in separate incidents in the Stockholm area.

In recent years, Sweden has struggled to stem a wave of shootings and bombings blamed on gangs settling scores over drug trafficking. The country saw 391 shootings in 2022, 62 of them fatal, compared to 45 the previous year, according to police data.
