Swedish Medical Association: Key Players in Swedish Healthcare With New Board Members

The Swedish Medical Association has just concluded its annual council meeting, during which five members were re-elected for another term and two new members were elected to the board.

Sofia Rydgren Stale, president of the Swedish Medical Association, emphasized the importance of the association’s role in Swedish healthcare, stating, “We are one of Sweden’s most important players in Swedish healthcare and the doctors’ voice is important in the debate about how healthcare’s challenges should be solved.”

The newly elected board members are Elin Karlsson, chief physician in surgery at Södertälje hospital with extensive trade union assignments, and Annika Östling, specialist in general medicine and chairman of the medical association in Jämtland County.

The board members are elected on a rolling two-year mandate, with half of the board being re-elected every year. The composition of the board after the recent elections is as follows:

– Marina Tuutma, second vice-chairman, Karlstad
