Prince Oscar celebrates his eighth birthday today. Fans of the Swedish royal family can look forward to very special pictures of the royal.
Today, March 2nd, Prince Oscar turns eight years old. Fans can see current pictures of the royal on the official Instagram channel of the Swedish royal family. The photos show the birthday child playing in the snow.
So that Oscar doesn’t freeze while exploring the snow cave, he wears a black and blue snowsuit and a bright blue hat. His red cheeks reveal that the temperatures there are freezing. Nevertheless, the prince beams into the camera with a broad grin.
Oscar’s mother, Crown Princess Victoria, took the camera herself for the birthday pictures. “The photographs were taken by Her Royal Highness the Crown Princess during the sports holidays in Storlien,” the Swedish royal family said. Storlien is a small town in the Swedish province of Jämtland County near the Norwegian border and is just under a nine-hour drive from Stockholm.

The royal birthday pictures have changed
Prince Oscar was born on March 2, 2016 at Karolinska Hospital in Solna, near Stockholm. He is the second child of Princess Victoria of Sweden and her husband, Prince Daniel. He is third in the line of succession to the Swedish throne, after his older sister Estelle. The princess celebrated her twelfth birthday a few weeks ago and was also photographed by her mother.
With her birthday photos, Crown Princess Victoria managed to create a clear contrast to the anniversary photos of recent years. In the past, Oscar and Estelle were usually photographed professionally by a photographer.
