Swiss Forward Zeki Amdouni Loaned to Benfica for Champions League Adventure

by time news

Zeki Amdouni (23 years old) is changing climates. Burnley has loaned him to Benfica Lisbon for the season. The Geneva striker will thus compete in the Champions League instead of battling in the English second division.

Amdouni was transferred from Basel to Burnley last summer for over 18 million euros. However, he was unable to establish himself with only 5 goals in 26 appearances in the Premier League with Burnley, which did not escape relegation.

At Benfica, coached by the German Roger Schmidt, the Swiss will have teammates including Angel Di Maria, Renato Sanches, Nicolas Otamendi, and former Basel striker Arthur Cabral.

Amdouni will be the third Swiss player to play at Benfica after Haris Seferovic and Loris Benito. Seferovic left good memories for the club’s supporters, having scored 74 goals in 178 matches.
