Canadian scientists observe an increase in sleep disturbances after the spring time change.

Twice a year, the debate on the time change resurfaces. This alternation, instituted in France in 1976 to save energy, is it bad for health? Researchers from McGill University in Montreal (Canada) provide a new element of response this Wednesday in the journal Neurology, the scientific journal of the American Academy of Neurology, the world’s largest association of neurologists and neuroscientists. Canadian scientists have studied the quality of sleep of a large group of people, after switching to winter time and summer time.

Making sure to reduce sleep disturbances is a public health issue, they justify in the preamble: « Sleep plays an essential role in health, mood, intellectual abilities, work performance and social relationships. » In the study, more than 30,000 people, aged 45 to 85 and living in seven Canadian provinces, were interviewed…
