Switzerland Aims to End HIV Infections by 2030

The Swiss Federal Council has announced a new Stop AIDS program with the ambitious goal of eliminating HIV infections in the country by 2030. After years of decline in HIV numbers, there was a rise in infections last year. However, experts believe that the trend is expected to continue to point downwards.

Andreas Lehner, managing director of Aidshilfe Schweiz, stated that although the goal is ambitious, the Federal Office of Public Health and Aidshilfe Schweiz are convinced that it will be possible to reduce HIV infections to zero within the next seven years.

The new program will focus on prevention, testing, treatment, and support for people living with HIV. It aims to increase access to HIV testing and treatment, as well as to promote awareness and education about the virus.

By implementing comprehensive measures and strategies, the Swiss government and health organizations hope to make it impossible to become infected with the AIDS virus HIV in Switzerland by 2030.

The Federal Council’s announcement has been met with optimism and support from the public, as the country takes a significant step towards eradicating HIV and ending the AIDS epidemic.]
