Switzerland authorizes return of R$82 million that was blocked in Paulo Maluf’s accounts

The Swiss court ordered that R$82 million blocked in the bank accounts of Paulo Maluf, former mayor of São Paulo and former federal deputy, be returned to Brazil. According to the Federal Attorney General’s Office, the decision taken by the Swiss Supreme Court cannot be appealed. The return of the resources was determined because of Maluf’s conviction for misappropriation of resources in the 1990s, when he was mayor of the capital of São Paulo. The politician was accused of using accounts abroad to launder public money.
