Last Saturday, June 29, 2024, the Cathedral Church of Riobamba became the stage for an unprecedented musical event: The Symphonic Encounter, which brought together 120 talented musicians from the Riobamba Municipal Symphony Orchestra and the Orchestra of the José María Rodríguez Conservatory of Cuenca. This collaboration offered the Riobamba public an evening full of talent and passion for music, leaving an indelible mark on the attendees.
The concert, which began at 7:00 p.m., was a display of classical and contemporary works. Under the baton of renowned conductors, the musicians performed emblematic pieces such as “Finlandia” by Jean Sibelius, the “Slavic March” by Piotr Ilich Tchaikovsky and “Diásporas” by Manuel de Falla. Each performance was received with ovations and fervent applause, evidencing the connection and impact that the music had on the audience. Entire families, young people and older adults, all came together to enjoy this musical fusion.
