Synagogue Attack in France, Officer Injured – Italy-World

(ANSA) – MONTPELLIER, AUGUST 24 – A police officer was injured this morning following an explosion in front of a synagogue in the south of France, in La Grande-Motte, caused by a gas cylinder that was inside a car. The national anti-terrorism prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation. Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin denounced an “evidently criminal” act on X. Prime Minister Gabriel Attal and Darmanin announced that they will go to the site this afternoon. “I want to assure our Jewish fellow citizens and the city of my full support and say that, at the request of the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron, all means are being mobilized to find the culprit,” Darmanin wrote on X. The city’s surveillance cameras captured images of an individual setting fire to two cars in front of the Beth Yaacov synagogue. According to a gendarmerie source, two doors of the synagogue were damaged by the flames. (ANSA).
