7 civilians, including children and women, were killed and 11 others were injured, as a preliminary toll, by violent Israeli bombing targeting the Syrian capital, Damascus, in addition to massive destruction.
A military source said: “At approximately 20:15 pm today, the Israeli enemy launched an air aggression with three missiles from the direction of the occupied Syrian Golan, targeting one of the residential and commercial buildings in the densely populated Mezzeh neighborhood in Damascus, which led to the death of seven civilians, including children and women, and the injury of eleven.” Others were injured as a preliminary toll, and significant material damage was caused to private property in the surrounding area, and work is still continuing to rescue others from under the rubble.”
Syrian media reported that “air defenses responded to targets in the airspace of Damascus, and that the bombing led to a number of casualties.”
“Sputnik” agency indicated that “Israeli aircraft bombed from above the territory of the occupied Golan, targeting a site on the southern outskirts of the capital, Damascus,” noting that “the number of casualties is likely to be relatively large because the area that was targeted is crowded with civilians because it contains a popular market.” And a large group of restaurants and an amusement park for children.”
An official source at Al-Mouwasat Hospital confirmed to Al-Watan Online that they have so far received 10 injuries as a result of the Israeli bombing.
According to the “Israel Today” newspaper, “the raids targeted a residential building in the Mezzeh neighborhood, west of Damascus, specifically an apartment on the second floor of a residential building near the Iranian embassy, suggesting at the same time that an assassination would take place.”
Syria had warned “against the recurrence of Israeli attacks on its territory,” noting that this “may lead to an escalation of violence in the region in a way that will be difficult to control.”
During the past few days, Israel has intensified its bombing of Syria, especially Damascus, Homs, Hama, and Latakia, causing deaths and injuries among civilians.
