The death toll from the Israeli bombing of several sites around the city of Masyaf in the Hama countryside, Syria, has risen to 16 dead and 36 wounded, including critical cases.
Hama Health Director Dr. Maher Al-Younes told SANA: “The number of people killed by the Israeli bombing of several areas in the Masyaf countryside has risen to 16, while there are 36 wounded, 6 of whom are in critical condition.”
In this context, “the Syrian Arab Republic condemned in the strongest terms the sinful Israeli attack that targeted a number of areas, resulting in the deaths of 16 martyrs and the wounding of 36 people, including 6 in critical condition, and also causing material damage to some residential areas.”
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said in a statement today: “In continuation of its attacks on Syrian territory, the Israeli occupation forces launched a blatant air aggression on Sunday evening, 9/8/2024, from the direction of northwestern Lebanon, targeting a number of areas, resulting in the martyrdom of 16 people and the wounding of 36 people, including 6 in critical condition, and also causing material damage to some residential areas.”
The Foreign Ministry added in its statement: “The persistence of the Israeli occupation entity in its attacks on Syrian territory and other countries in the region, and its continuation of its brutal war on the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, and its perpetration of the most horrific massacres and crimes of genocide against the Palestinians, only indicates the frantic pursuit of this bloody fascist entity for further escalation in the region and pushing it into dangerous slopes that will have dire consequences that cannot be predicted.”
The Foreign Ministry said, “Syria stresses that the unlimited support for the Israeli entity by the United States of America and other Western countries is what encourages it to continue its brutal crimes and ongoing aggression, which makes those countries partners in this aggression and covering it up requires accountability.”
The Foreign Ministry added: “While the Syrian Arab Republic condemns in the strongest terms this sinful attack on Syrian territory, it warns against the continued international silence regarding Israel’s disregard for all international laws and conventions, and its violations of international law, and calls on all countries of the world to condemn this Israeli aggression and stand in solidarity with it in seeking to put an end to the systematic Israeli attacks and crimes, and to hold the leaders of this racist entity accountable for all its crimes.”
The Foreign Ministry said, “Syria reaffirms its firm right to defend the sovereignty of its territories and liberate its occupied land by all legitimate means guaranteed by international law.”
In addition, the Iranian Foreign Ministry condemned the Israeli bombing of Syria yesterday, which resulted in dozens of martyrs and wounded.
Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani said during his weekly press conference today: “Israel’s crimes are not limited to Palestine, and the Zionist entity’s continued aggression against Syria, Gaza and Lebanon is a continuation of its insane policies of expanding the war in the region.”
Kanaani denied “what was reported in the Zionist media about targeting Iranian headquarters in Syria,” stressing that “it is time for the supporters of this entity to stop arming it.”
