Syria receives 2,000 Lebanese citizens and confirms the opening of several shelters

Today, Tuesday, the Syrian newspaper Al-Watan revealed the reception of 2,000 Lebanese citizens, citing officials who opened several shelters.

The newspaper reported, “The Jdeidet Yabous crossing in the countryside of Damascus, this afternoon, received about 2,000 citizens from Lebanon to Syrian territory, and a similar number are awaiting the completion of entry procedures from Lebanon.”
The newspaper quoted the governor of Damascus countryside, Ahmed Khalil, as saying: “Most of the Syrian arrivals are returning from Lebanon,” noting at the same time, “providing an internal transport bus to carry them.”
After that, the Director of Civil Defense in Homs, Muhdhab Al-Mudi, confirmed, “There are 5 main shelter centers available, which cater for about 40,000 people, and 9 backup shelter centers which cater for about 25,000 people.”
Al-Mudi added, “The shelter centers are equipped with all the necessary services, including water, electricity, health facilities, and telephone, as well as the necessary shelter materials.”
