The administrative body of the Syrian Newroz Club named Nizar Mahrous as coach of its football team, succeeding the resigned coach Wali Karim, to continue the team’s journey in the Iraqi Professional Stars League competitions for the current season (2023-2024).

A statement from the media office of the Stars League, received by the (INA), stated that “The management of the Newroz Club appointed Syrian coach Nizar Mahrous to lead the technical staff of its football team participating in the Iraqi Professional Stars League.”
He added, “Mahrous previously trained the Syrian national team and supervised several Iraqi clubs, including the Zakho Club and the Erbil Club. He also trained the Jordanian Al-Jazira team and the Emirati team Hatta.”
It is noteworthy that the Zakho administration’s contract with the Syrian coach, Nizar Mahrous, came after the coach, Wali Karim, submitted his resignation earlier, which came in response to the desire of the Newroz Club fans, who demanded his departure after the loss to Al-Zawraa Zakho.
