The Syrian Center for Monitoring Human Rights reported this morning (Saturday) that “last Thursday, Israel attacked ammunition depots in the city of Masyaf, including medium-range surface-to-surface missiles, which were produced at the scientific research center under the supervision of officers and experts in Iran’s Revolutionary Guards.” It was also reported that there were about a thousand missiles that had been stored there for more than a year.
As you may recall, the Syrian news agency SANA reported last Thursday that the Syrian air defense is confronting hostile targets in the skies over the city of Masyaf in the western part of the country. According to other reports, there was also an attack in the Tartus port area and loud explosions were heard in the area. The reports of the attack come in the background of the reports earlier today in Arab media about the assassination of a senior member of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards, Sardar Akbar Jalomourkh, during an attack by the American army in the city of Mayadin in the Deir ez-Zor district, in northeastern Syria. According to the reports, the official who was killed when the Americans attacked a building belonging to the Revolutionary Guards was involved in Hezbollah’s precision missile project.
