SYRIZA’s Liou Responds to Accusations and Defends Her Work Amid Internal Controversy

by time news

A loud response to circulating leaks in recent days that SYRIZA has decided to seek assistance from an independent company to investigate complaints against it (“contractor” Polakis) was given by SYRIZA MP, Athina Linou.

The SYRIZA MP cites communication with Kasselakis during which, as she herself states, he denied that such a decision exists, and on the other hand, she “highlights” Pavlos Polakis for “fascist” behaviors (“throw mud and something will stick”).

It is noted that Mr. Polakis has been dealing almost daily with Athina Linou in his posts, with implications and direct accusations regarding “scandals.”

Polakis’ anger (at least publicly) is prompted by Athina Linou’s outburst in Parliament which led the Chania MP to be expelled from the SYRIZA Parliamentary Group (and only that).

Details of Athina Linou’s post

I was informed that the ongoing falsehoods from a specific center included yesterday a supposed decision by the President of SYRIZA to ask an independent company to investigate the complaints against me. Although the President, Mr. Kasselakis, categorically denied the existence of such a decision in our communication, I personally would have no objection to it being conducted immediately.

The Prolepsis Institute and all its programs are, in any case, audited by certified accountants, international auditing organizations, and state agencies. Reports of activities along with financial statements are submitted for each program to any interested parties, who evaluate them not only in terms of their legality and proper management of funds but also in terms of their effectiveness. I have no doubt that any additional audit will confirm that this work has always been both legal and ethical, and effective.

The midnight reposts pretend to raise serious questions. However, they do not sincerely seek the easily accessible answers that arise from public data available to everyone and are fully transparent. They do a disservice to the work of a team of 30 scientists and hundreds of volunteers and aim solely at petty party ambitions.

The collateral damage of these fascist behaviors (“throw mud and something will stick”) is the incomplete discussion and inadequate addressing of inequalities in our country, as well as the absence of any serious and substantive opposition.
