System of a Down (SOAD) is one of the most iconic bands of alternative and progressive metal. Originally from Los Angeles, California, and made up of Serj Tankian (vocals and keyboards), Daron Malakian (guitar and vocals), Shavo Odadjian (bass) and John Dolmayan (drums), the group was formed in 1994. His unique style mixes genres such as heavy metal, progressive rock, punk and traditional Armenian music, resulting in an unmistakable sound loaded with a political message.
