Perth: India’s first loss in Super-12 of T20 World Cup. India lost to South Africa by five wickets. South Africa won on the strength of Miller and Markram’s batting. South Africa chased down India’s target of 134 runs with two balls to spare.
Despite faltering at the start, India’s hopes were dashed by the Miller-Markram partnership for the fourth wicket. India’s poor fielding was also a shame. Miller remained unbeaten on 59 off 46 balls for South Africa. Markram scored 52 runs off 41 balls. Arshadeep Singh took two wickets for India.

After winning the toss and batting at the beginning, Suryakumar Yadav brought the team India to a score of 133-9 in 20 overs. Suryakumar scored 68 runs off 40 balls. Surya’s one-man fight helped India reach a better score from where five wickets fell for 49 runs. Lungi Ngidi took four wickets and Wayne Parnell three wickets for South Africa. Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, Deepak Hooda and Hardik Pandya could not perform well.
Having defeated Pakistan and the Netherlands in their previous matches in the Super 12, India could have almost secured the semis if they had won today. With India’s defeat, Pakistan’s chances in the semis are in doubt.
