Tabakalera will inaugurate this Friday the photographic exhibition ‘Open, get together, act. Getting closer moves us’ that brings together a hundred photos taken by young people in vulnerable situations.

The exhibition, organized in collaboration with the photographer Nagore Legarreta and which will remain open until July 31, includes portraits of stories and personal trajectories of the group of young people who participate in the ‘Harrotu ileak’ mediation project, developed with artists and young people recently Arrived in San Sebastian.

‘Open, come together, act. Getting closer moves us’ is the result of the work carried out by the young people of ‘Harrotu ileak’ during the 2022-2023 academic year in collaboration with the artists Javi Julio, Nagore Legarreta and the photographer from the Magnum Agency Lua Ribeira, who is currently exhibiting in the room Kutxa Kultur Artegunea from Tabakalera exhibits ‘Subida al cielo’.

All the photographs have been created from exercises proposed by the artists, and the exhibition approach has been carried out by Nagore Legarreta.

The sample can be visited on the second floor of Tabakalera from Tuesday to Thursday from ten in the morning to nine in the afternoon; Fridays and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.; and on Sundays and holidays from ten in the morning to nine at night.

Realidades en Tabakalera

‘Harrotu ileak’ emerged in Tabakalera in 2017 to create “a space for work, recognition, reflection and meeting for young people, often in vulnerable situations”. Within this framework, the center welcomes a group of young people every week and develops, from the field of art and culture, “the collective construction of new imaginaries about the different realities that inhabit the Tabakalera building.”

‘Harrotu ileak’ develops programs every year in which video, dance, rap, photography, cinema, painting or theater allow participants to deal with issues that directly affect them, such as the reality of social justice in the public sphere and the questioning of stereotypes and social stigmas.
