Maffay reveals five powerful dragon secrets |
“Tabaluga almost became a frog…”
The little green dragon turns 40!
Rock-Star Peter Maffay (73) invented in 1982 “Tabaluga”. His new musical fairy tale “The World is Beautiful” has just been released. In BILD, the singer reveals five “Tabaluga” secrets.
► 1. The little dragon almost became a frog. “That was my first idea. The frog should dive into his glass and explore the world with his buddies.” Rolf Zuckowski then suggested the dragon shape.
► 2. “Tabaluga” has a father in Tyrion – but no mother. “I have no idea how that happened to us. We only noticed that much later. We just hadn’t thought about it.”
► 3. Maffay’s favorite song in 40 years “Tabaluga?” “Clearly: ‘I never wanted to be an adult.’ A strong song whose message still applies today.”
► 4. The song has been covered many times. Most successful by Scooter, who landed their only number 1 hit. “I think the scooter version is fantastic! And a great appreciation to us for arranging the song with techno.”
► 5. Maffay’s friend Hendrikje Balsmeyer (35) co-composed the title song of the new album. “We want to give children hope with it.”
Is there another “Tabaluga” album? “It depends on developments. Generally and with me. I’m 73 after all.”
