Tagesschau irritated with wording on Russia

by time news

In violation of international law, Russia claims several Ukrainian territories. In the Tagesschau, on the other hand, “protection” is spoken of.

The Tagesschau spokeswoman Susanne Daubner caused a stir with a formulation in the news program. In Wednesday’s edition, the program reported on the illegal annexation of the occupied parts of the four Ukrainian regions of Cherson, Donetsk, Luhansk and Zaporizhia. Russian President Vladimir Putin had previously signed and implemented the laws on the integration of the regions into Russian territory passed by the State Duma and the Federation Council.

“This means that the regions of Cherson, Zaporizhia, Luhansk and Donetsk, some of which are occupied by Russia, will be under the protection of the nuclear power in the future,” explained Daubner in her moderation. On the Twitter platform, however, some users accuse her of using the sentence to spread the propaganda of the Russian leadership.
