Even when darkness covers all of Egypt, the Lord will always hold His chosen people in the grip of light.

Seeing Pharaoh’s stubbornness, the Lord said to Moses again, “Stretch out your hand toward the sky so that there will be darkness over the land of Egypt and they will stumble in the darkness.” For Moses to do the same, darkness covered the land of Egypt for three days. So, we could not see each other for three days. No one could get up from his seat. But at the same time, all the people of Israel had light in their dwellings. Pharaoh immediately summoned Moses and said, “Go and worship the Lord. Leave only your flocks and herds. “Your children can also go with you,” he said. And Moses said, “Leave in our hands the sacrifices and the burnt offerings that we offer to the Lord our God. Our cattle must come with us; One does not stay here. We will take from them what we need to worship the Lord our God. “We don’t know how we will worship the Lord until we go there.” Pharaoh said to Moses, “Get away from me. Make sure you don’t wake up in my face again. Because you will die on the day you wake up in my face.” And Moses said, “As you have said, I will not wake up in your face any more.”
