Tajikistan invites SCO member states and partners to join the new system of cargo transportation permits.

As reported on Thursday by Day.Az with reference to Trend, this was stated by the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon at a meeting in the SCO Plus format in Astana.

“It is necessary to increase joint efforts in the economic sphere. Our countries have significant mineral resources and a powerful production base. Tajikistan’s trade turnover with the SCO family countries shows a progressive growth dynamic, its volume last year amounted to more than 80 percent. The time has come to move on to the implementation of specific joint projects involving the potential of observer states and partners, primarily in the areas of high technology, innovation, artificial intelligence, agriculture, as well as in the investment sphere,” he said.

Rahmon invited observer countries and dialogue partners to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the SCO Business Council and Interbank Association.

“We need to more actively use the potential for cooperation in the transport and energy sectors. International transport and transit corridors are being formed, running through our territory from East to West and from North to South,” he said.

Rakhmon noted that the international legal basis for the development of transport infrastructure within the SCO is the agreement signed in Dushanbe in 2014 on the creation of favorable conditions for international automobile transport.

“The new system of permits for the transportation of goods along through automobile routes is unique in its kind. This document is open. Therefore, we invite observer states and dialogue partners, as well as others, to consider the possibility of joining it,” he added.
