The 32-year-old rider plans to join the Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) test team.

“I have decided to end my career as a MotoGP rider at the end of the 2024 season. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all the fans who have warmly supported me,” said Takaaki Nakagami.

Nakagami became Japan’s mainstay rider in the Grand Prix scene after achieving 14 podiums, including 2 wins, while competing in Moto2 in 2012-2017.

His best achievement was 6th place in the 2016 season, before being recruited by HRC to race in MotoGP in 2018 with LCR Honda.

Nakagami is considered a very important rider in the development of the RC213V.

The data and input he provides is always considered valuable by Honda riders such as Marc Marquez, Cal Crutchlow, Luca Marini, Joan Mir, and Johann Zarco.

Although, Nakagami himself has never tasted the podium in the MotoGP class.
