Suggest a correctionThe head of the Supreme Council of State, Mohamed Takala, issued a statement following the controversy that accompanied the second round of elections for the presidency of the council with former president, Khaled Al-Mishri.

Takala said in a press ‍statement ⁣published by the council on its official page: “Re-voting removes the controversy, maintains the cohesion‌ of the council, and protects its democratic experience,”⁢ adding, “We will not allow anyone who⁢ refuses to⁢ distort the ‍performance of the council.”

Takala spoke about the circumstances of Tuesday’s session, saying: “We were going directly to a third round because the‍ paper was⁤ correct, but we gave in and accepted the postponement in order to ⁣preserve the image of the council by not giving⁣ the confused party an opportunity to sabotage the session.”

“We were afraid that the opposing party ⁢would try to stir up⁣ confusion, undermine the image of the council and threaten it with division, and this is what was proven after the session,” Takala said, noting⁤ that “Khaled Al-Mishri⁢ refused to take into account the opinion of the judiciary, and‍ this ⁢is ⁣consistent with his ⁣extremist position and ‍his prior decision to reach the position at any ⁢cost, even if it was at the expense of the image and reputation of the Supreme Council of State and its members,” he said.

Takala expressed his confidence that “the paper is‌ completely valid and is a valid vote ⁤for one of ‌the council members, and no one has the right to invalidate it, which was confirmed by a respected elite ‍of well-known legal experts in our country.”

Khaled Al-Mishri won the elections for the presidency of the State Advisory Council by one vote‌ after obtaining 69 votes in the second round, compared to 68 votes for his competitor, Mohammed Takala. However, this was not officially announced due to objections to the⁢ results by some members. The objection ⁢was ‍about the legality of one of‌ the ⁢members’ ⁣votes after writing Mohammed Takala’s name in ⁣a‍ place other than the designated one.

The‌ head of the ⁢Supreme Council of State, Mohamed Takala, announced that “August 20 will be the date ⁤for re-voting for‌ the presidential elections.”
