Takala rejects a session scheduled to be held today for a group of members of the Supreme Council of State

by times news cr

A statement issued by Mohamed Takala on behalf of the “Presidency Office of the Supreme Council of State” today, Wednesday, stressed the rejection of the session scheduled to be held by a group of members today, describing it as a “flagrant violation” of the Council’s internal regulations, in form and content.

The statement said that this session is “illegal” and is considered a “serious abuse of powers” stipulated in the internal regulations, stressing that any decisions or outcomes issued by it will have no legal status and will not be recognized as part of the official work of the council.

The statement said that these “individual moves” weaken the unity of the council and expose it to division, which negatively affects the supreme interest of the country at this critical stage.

Takala called on all members to adhere to the Council’s internal regulations and respect the legal mechanisms followed for holding sessions and making decisions, in order to ensure that the Council’s work proceeds on the right track and to achieve the goals for which it was established.

The statement stressed that the “Council Presidency Office” presented many initiatives to heal the rift and bring the country together, but “those with narrow interests” insisted on division and separation.

The statement concluded by stressing that the Council will take all necessary legal measures to confront “these illegal attempts” to preserve the Council’s prestige, role and the legitimacy of its decisions.

Earlier, a statement attributed to the Supreme Council of State called on the council members to hold an urgent general session today, Wednesday, to complete the elections for the council’s presidency office.

It is noteworthy that the Supreme Council of State had held a previous session of the presidential office elections, but it was not completed due to a dispute over the result of the election of the council president, after the session’s rapporteur announced that Takala had obtained 68 votes compared to 69 votes for Al-Mishri, and then a discussion took place about the legality of an election paper on which Takala’s name was written on the back.

Last week, the heads of the permanent committees of the Supreme Council of State announced their refusal to participate in any public session held by either party to the dispute in the council, calling at the same time for a session next Wednesday to complete the election of the presidency office, considering that “the disputed ballot paper is invalid and not approved.”
