Harare: The Zimbabwean team is very confident as they prepare to face India in the ODI series. Zimbabwe will come against India after winning the ODI and T20I series against Bangladesh. The hosts won both the series 2-1. Therefore, Zimbabwe will be a big challenge for the series led by KL Rahul. Zimbabwe coach David Hooton is making sure of this.
Hooton believes that they will be able to challenge the team in all three matches. “With the arrival of the Indian team for the tour, a great opportunity has come for Zimbabwe. We are not here to enjoy India’s cricket. The team can challenge them. “The team will be able to challenge the team in all the three matches of the series,” he expressed confidence.
“India has the capacity to field three or four different teams. Whichever team is fielded, they will all be experienced players. It is a difficult task for us to face them. We follow IPL and Indian cricket. Therefore, there is an understanding of how to play,” said the Zimbabwean coach.
Regis Chakabwa will lead the Zimbabwe team for the ODI series. Chakabwa replaces Craig Irwin, who missed the series due to injury. Zimbabwe announced a 17-member squad. The three-match series will begin on the 18th of this month. All three matches will be played at the Harare Sports Club. The second ODI will be played on the 20th and the third match on the 22nd. All matches will start at 1 PM IST. Zimbabwe will be without Blessing Muzarabani, Tendai Chatara and Wellington Masakadza due to injury.
