To inaugurate the new column of the international festival of civil journalism the writer Maurizio de Giovanni who will present the newcomer Martina Marinelli
NAPLES – The Giant and the Child. Martina Marinelli is a promising author who, at the age of nineteen, made her debut with the novel “Cuore di luce, alba”. Maurizio de Giovanni, who has always been close to young talents, will present his fantasy on Wednesday 19 May at 6 pm in a webinar event on the website www.imbavagliati.it. The famous crime writer, in fact, among the many initiatives that have seen him as a protagonist in support of the new generations, has been part of the group of storytellers for years, who lead the writing workshop with the boys imprisoned in the Juvenile Penal Institute of Nisida.
The event, with the telematic direction of Eva Serio, is part of “Racconti dal fondo”. A space dedicated to reading inaugurated for the first time by “Imbavagliati”, thus continuing the presentations, often in preview, which characterized the six editions of the International Festival of Civil Journalism.
Format conceived and directed by Désirée Klain, who in Naples since 2015 gives voice to those journalists who in their countries have experienced the gag of censorship and the persecution of dictatorial regimes, but despite this they have put their lives in danger to be able to speak, tell , denounce. “Tales from the bottom”, moreover, for each event, has decided to twin up with those social realities that support culture in difficult contexts. Such as the association of social promotion “Cermes For Art and Culture” which has given life, within the premises of its headquarters, in via Roma in Cervino (in the province of Caserta), to a library. Act of resilience and space where everyone, starting with children, can find books, weave relationships and weave hopes.
Marinelli was born in Rome on July 19, 2001. The reserved and curious nature soon pushed her to love the adventures of the books that she jealously keeps on the shelves of her room. A lover of art in all its forms, for some years she has dedicated herself to acting, dancing and singing, always reserving a special place for reading and writing, in which she continues to find parts of herself. During the summer of her final exams, a dream prompted her to start writing “Heart of light, the dawn”. The first pages of the book were born as if they were a diary to which you can confide your feelings, but soon the novel that came to life became the tool through which to paint part of his past. The young Rose retraces in a fantasy key the path crossed by the writer herself, and the characters she is accompanied by want to be a tribute to the people with a “heart of light” with whom she shared her journey. Martina is currently working on the following chapters of the trilogy: “Heart of light, The choice” and “Heart of light, The sunset”. His writing, which goes well beyond his years, thanks to his mastery of language, the narration of the complex fantasy plot, the pressing dialogues and the meticulous descriptions of the places.
