Tambov residents received gold medals at the World Championship in sports for the deaf

Residents of Tambov received gold medals at the World Championship in Sports for the Deaf (6+). Competitions among juniors in Greco-Roman wrestling were held in Turkey.

Athletes from 40 countries took part in the competition. As part of the Russian national team, the Tambov region was represented by pupils of the sports-adaptive school Anton Bubnov and Gennady Borisov. They showed good results and won gold medals.

– Anton Bubnov had 4 fights at the tournament, he did not concede a single point to his rivals – he won with a total score of 32-0. Gennady Borisov also triumphantly passed the tournament grid and gave his opponents only one point, – said Mikhail Budarin, director of the sports-adaptive school.

Tambov athletes of the Greco-Roman style (sport of the deaf) have been part of the Russian national team for many years. They successfully perform at the European, World and Deaflympic Championships and Championships. The Tambov sports-adaptive school is considered one of the strongest in Russia.
