The Annual General Meeting of the Tamil Film Producers’ Association was held today (Sep 18) morning at the Artist’s Arena in Thenampet, Chennai. The General Assembly was held under the chairmanship of Sangam President N. Ramasamy and in the presence of Vice Presidents S. Kathiresan, RK Suresh, Honorary Secretary Radhakrishnan and Treasurer Chandra Prakash Jain.
More than 500 producers, including ex-executives and executive committee members of the association, attended the general assembly. Various resolutions were passed in this General Assembly. Most importantly, the decision to publish film reviews three days after its release date has created a stir.

That is, ‘after three days from the release date of the film, it is requested to write its reviews on social media’, the resolution states. This demand is a long-standing demand in the film industry. YouTube reviews, Facebook posts, Twitter memes and reviews of the film are pouring in every second. Due to this, there is a perception that many films fail commercially.
Also, since movies are mostly released on Fridays, it is said that if reviews are published on social media after Sundays, it will not affect the collection of the film. Therefore, there is a constant demand to publish reviews after only three days.
Apart from that, the Tamil Film Producers Association has also passed a resolution to bring cameras in theaters and interview the audience. In it, it has been mentioned that ‘theatre owners are requested not to allow cameras brought inside the theaters to ask for feedback after watching the film’. The resolution is also said to be specifically against interviews on YouTube channels.
It is to be noted that the general committee has passed a resolution to refrain from giving any interviews to journalists who spread false news about movies and actors and actresses.
