Tamil leaders must give action to implement provincial administration! Durairettinam request

by time news

Former Eastern Provincial Councilor Ira Turairettinam has called on the people to self-criticize the mistakes made in the past and to co-operate in the implementation of the 13th Amendment, which has been passed in Parliament in the near future.

In this connection he stated,

Provincial administration has been in place since 1990. It is a political power enshrined in legislation in Parliament.

It is fully implemented in Sri Lanka. As of 13th, it had functioned as a provincial council for the minority, combining the north and east.

In this case many powers were vested under the provincial administration. It has over time been deprived of certain powers by the racist state.

In particular, the Northern and Eastern Provincial Councils were incorporated on 30.06.2006.

In addition, some of the powers vested in the Provincial Administration, such as the Divisional Secretariat, were abolished.

The central government took over the powers of the police, land, finance, agricultural irrigation, public service and public administration.

We, the Tamils, who were previously under the provincial council system in some respects, should try to make the best of what we have, despite taking on certain powers.

The Tamil leadership must take action to deny the government new powers to abolish anti-minority power and to fully implement the internationally recognized 13th Amendment, which has gained international recognition.
