Pragyananda, a young chess player from Tamil Nadu, defeated world champion Magnus Carlsen for the 2nd time in 3 months.
The Chess Masters Chess Series is taking place online. In the 5th round of the 16-player series, Pragyananda, a 16-year-old Grandmaster from Chennai, faced Carlson, a world number one player from Norway. Playing with black pieces, he took advantage of a big mistake made by Magnus Carlsen to seal the victory on the 40th move.
Pragyananda defeated Magnus Carlsen in the 8th round of the Air Things Masters Rapid Chess Series online last February.
The 5-time champion has been knocked down by a rising young player 3 months apart, much to the surprise of the chess world.
