Chennai: The Tamil Nadu Fire and Rescue Department won various medals in the All India Games for Firefighters.
The Games for Indian Firefighters and Service Officers were held at Gujarat University, Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
Sports competitions including volleyball, table tennis, badminton, long jump, high jump and shot put were held.
More than 1,500 participants from 29 states and 7 union territories across the country participated in the competition.
In this, 32 firefighters participated under the leadership of Meenakshi Vijayakumar, Joint Director of Fire and Rescue Department on behalf of Tamil Nadu.
In the competition, Tamil Nadu players won gold in 1,500m, 200m and 400m, silver in high jump, silver in kabaddi and silver in relay.
At the end of all the competitions, Tamil Nadu players won 7 gold, 8 silver and 1 bronze, winning a total of 16 medals.
