The six-year Tamil Nadu Government Film Awards ceremony was held in Chennai on Sunday. In this, awards were given to actor Vikram and lyricist Na. Muthikumar. His son Aadhavan received the award on behalf of late Muthikumar.

The awards ceremony for the best films, actors, actresses, technicians, small screen serials and actresses for the six-year period from 2009 to 2014 was held in Chennai on Sunday.

Leading Celebrities: Awards were announced for 314 people including many leading actresses. But many did not come to receive the awards. In particular, actresses Amala Paul, Iniya, Anushka, Nayanthara, Samantha, actresses Vimal, Sivakarthikeyan, Jeeva, Vijay Sethupathi, Suri, Arya, Nasriya Naseem, music composer A.R. Raghuman,

Cinematographer Santosh Sivan and many other leading celebrities were announced with awards to honor their works. But, the movie fans were disappointed as they did not come.

Meanwhile, Vikram won the best actor award for ‘Ravanan’, Vikram Prabhu for ‘Kumki’ and Bobby Simha for ‘Jigir Danda’. Na.Muthikumar was announced with two awards for Best Lyricist for composing the best songs in several films. After his death, the awards were received by his son Aadhavan and daughter Yogalakshmi. Popular lyricist Muthulingam won the award for the film ‘Methayi’. Aishvaya Rajesh bagged the best actress award for ‘Kakka Talbi’ and actress Anjali for ‘Angadit Theru’. Actor Nass received the award for Best Character Actor.

As far as directors are concerned, Ram for ‘Thangameen’, Balaji Sakthivel for ‘Case No 18/9’, AL for ‘Theivath Thirumal’. Vijay (his father A.L. Azhakappan was fathered)

More than 250 people received awards in more than 30 categories such as director and music composer. The award ceremony started at 5.30 pm and went on till 8.30 pm.

The producers who produced the best films were awarded first prize of Rs.2 lakh, second prize of Rs.1 lakh and third prize of Rs.75 thousand. The best actor, actress and technician were given a 5 pound gold medal and a certificate of appreciation.

Similarly, a check of Rs.5000 each and a 1 pound gold medal were given to 30 of the best short films who studied at the Government Training Institute. As far as small screen awards are concerned, from 2009 to 2013, 20 best producers were given a check of Rs.25 lakhs, and 81 best actors, actresses and technicians were given a 3 pound gold medal and a certificate.

These awards were presented by Minister of Information M. P. Saminathan, Minister of People’s Welfare Department M. Subramanian, Minister of Hindu Religious Charities Department P. K. Sekhababu, Mayor of Chennai Metropolitan Corporation R. Priya and others.
