Speaking to reporters at a function in Chennai, Central Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said, “With the co-operation of the Tamil Nadu government, the construction of roads in Tamil Nadu will be expedited. There is no shortage of funding. In fact, we are ready to allocate Rs 1,000 crore for road works in Tamil Nadu. Road construction in Tamil Nadu has come to a standstill due to the lack of cooperation from the Tamil Nadu government.

In Tamil Nadu, for example, despite problems in land acquisition in the neighboring state of Kerala, Chief Minister Binarayi Vijayan has been enthusiastic about building roads in the state. Similarly in various states including Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka various road laying projects are progressing fast. It is not available in Tamil Nadu. With the cooperation of the state government, road works in Tamil Nadu will be given priority, ”he said.
